Hill Country Memorial Recognized for excellence in Joint Replacement Care:

For the Seventh Consecutive Year

Hill Country Memorial (HCM) has received the Healthgrades 2020 Joint Replacement Excellence Award for the seventh consecutive year. The award recognizes HCM in the nation’s top 10% for joint replacement, according to a national report by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. HCM is the only hospital in Central Texas to earn the recognition.

Healthgrades annually evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions using Medicare data and all-payer data from 15 states for bariatrics and appendectomy procedures.*

HCM’s achievement is part of findings released in the Healthgrades 2020 Report to the Nation, which underscores the importance of hospital quality to both consumers and hospital executives. Variation in hospital quality can have a significant impact on the quality of care a patient receives. Healthgrades compared the 2020 Joint Replacement Excellence Award recipients as a group to all other hospitals and found:

    • Patients receiving joint replacement, on average, have a 59.7% lower risk of experiencing complications at hospitals that received the Joint Replacement Excellence Award, versus hospitals that did not receive the award. *

    • 5-Star for Colorectal Surgeries for two consecutive years (2019-2020)
    • 5-Star for Treatment of Sepsis for four consecutive years (2017-2020)
