Tackle Your Elbow, Hand, or Foot Pain Now
HCM provides all of the services you need to conquer your pain and get back to sewing (or playing tennis or dancing or whatever it is you miss doing)
Many of us wait to address our pain and try to live with it. But this can mean missing out on doing the things we love to do and the everyday things that we need to do. At Hill Country Memorial Hospital (HCM), you’ll find a range of services to help you begin living with less pain.
If you’re feeling pain in your elbow, wrist, hand, foot, or ankle, first talk to your doctor about it. Your doctor will assess the seriousness of your pain and note any changes in it based on your medical history. While your doctor will offer some treatment options to help you manage your pain and maintain your mobility, you may also receive a treatment plan that involves a team of specialists.
This is where HCM’s Outpatient Rehab services come into play. Whether you arrive at this stage through your doctor or you seek outpatient physical therapy on your own, you’ll be matched with a physical therapist who will respond to your particular needs. If your pain is the result of a sports injury, we have specialists in Sports Medicine. If you would benefit from Aquatic Therapy, we have therapists who specialize in that approach.
Your doctor may also refer you to an orthopedic surgeon (also called an orthopedist). At HCM, our orthopedists provide a range of services. They diagnose bone, muscle, joint, tendon, or ligament conditions, treat injuries, provide rehabilitation, and advise how to prevent further damage to a diseased area. Some of our orthopedists specialize in particular areas, such as hand surgery or sports medicine, and all are highly trained and board certified. If your pain is specific to your foot or ankle, your doctor may refer you to one of HCM’s ankle/foot surgeons.
Your orthopedist will review with you your medical history, including current and past illnesses and injuries, and will conduct a physical exam. The two of you will discuss further testing and treatment options. If surgery is the best option for you, HCM provides a team of specialists to assist your orthopedist before, during, and after your procedure.
So, if your pain is slowing you down, HCM has a team of specialists who are here to help you. With HCM’s help, you can get back on the tennis court or the hiking trails, or wherever it is that you’ve been missing.
